THE SNICKERDOODLE STYLE
I love the documentary style of photography and its ability to tell the story of relationships. You will have noticed that I favor natural light and a soft focus; this is the way I like to see my world.
People often say to me that they were surprised to be having fun during their photos, perhaps expecting to have to hold a pose and smile at the camera. Although I will direct you in your movements, I keep posed photos to a minimum; usually limiting them to formal group photos (where everyone needs to look at the camera).
I like photos to have a natural feel and I carry this through on my retouching of your images - they should never look artificial - this also helps photos to avoid looking dated ten years from now.
I like it best if we can collaborate on images. I am always keen to hear your ideas and create something distinct to you. Don't be shy! You will also be able to pick your favorite images in your private online proof gallery and let me know what you would like to be touched up.
People tell me that I have a calming influence which is always a surprise to me, as I am teeming with energy and ideas inside. I always bring my sense of humor with me wherever I go and I try to keep sessions playful. And if I am lucky, it shows up in your photographs. |
ABOUT NICOLA
Raised on the east coast of Canada, I moved to the town of Canmore with my husband 10 years ago. I have a Basset Hound who accompanies me to the office most days and am at risk of melting whenever I see a puppy.
This summer we are expecting our first child, a little boy. We are overjoyed at the the news - you can expect to see lots of photos of our new baby. I am also posting pregnancy photos to Facebook as the belly grows. You will find the link on my Contact page.
ABOUT THE (silly) NAME
Besides being a suitably whimsical name, Snickerdoodles are one of my favorite cookies. And as a small child, perhaps toting around a Snickerdoodle or two, my brother used to call me by the name (much fancier than just Niki).
